Gov. Ricketts Congratulates the Office of the Chief Information Officer on National Recognition
LINCOLN – Today, Governor Ricketts highlighted a national award received by the Nebraska Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a recent initiative which consolidated the state’s technology infrastructure and IT support services. Nebraska’s successful initiative was chosen by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) as a recipient of the 2018 Recognition Awards. Nebraska was named the award winner in the category of “Enterprise Technology Management Initiatives.”

State expects Record attendance at 13th annual Security Conference (pdf)
SEPT. 25, 2018 (LINCOLN, NEB.) — Thursday, Sept. 27, the State will co-host their thirteenth annual Nebraska Cyber Security Conference taking place at Southeast Community College’s Lincoln Campus. This year’s event takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 8800 “O” Street. The conference is for security administrators and IT professionals, including network administrators, system administrators and information security professionals. Over 300 guests have registered to attend.

Partnership Launched to Help Close Homework Gap for Rural Students (pdf)
The Nebraska Library Commission announced Monday, it received a National Leadership Sparks Grant of $25,000 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for a partnership project with the Nebraska Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and five local school districts and public libraries. Nebraska communities participating in this one-year project beginning June 1 include Bancroft, Genoa, Imperial, Verdigre, and Wymore. The Nebraska Schools and Libraries—Breaking the Ice and Igniting Internet Relationships grant is one of 26 projects out of 117 applications to receive funding totaling
$5,770,682 to support libraries across the nation.

Survey looks at How Nebraskans are Using Broadband and Cost Benefits (pdf)
Digital readiness is key to building a stronger workforce and strengthening the State’s economy. The University of Nebraska Extension, the Nebraska Information Technology Commission, the Nebraska Public Service Commission, and Nebraska Library Commission have partnered with the Purdue Center for Regional Development to conduct a statewide Digital Readiness survey. The survey is open to the public and available until April 30.
